The air dryer — used in compressed-air braking and suspension systems on trucks, buses, and heavy commercial vehicles — removes moisture and contaminants from the compressed air before it enters the system's storage tanks and control valves. Water in compressed-air lines freezes in cold weather, corrodes aluminium valves, and reduces the efficiency of air-operated components including air suspension bellows, service brakes, and parking brake actuators.
