Types of tyre pressure gauge

Pen-style gauges are the simplest and cheapest option — a push-on valve connector releases a calibrated rod that shows the measured pressure. They are accurate enough for routine checks but can be awkward to read in poor light. Dial gauges add a larger, easier-to-read face and are preferred by workshops. Digital gauges offer the clearest readout and often include a built-in deflation pin for fine adjustment.

Getting accurate readings

Always measure tyre pressure when the tyres are cold — before the vehicle has been driven more than two miles.
